amplifying the sound of light and love
its 420am and we're supposed to be sleeping. there's tuition to be given tomorrow, but well, we're wide awake, after a midnight movie. anyway, fck it, its the holidays, we'll sleep whenever we want. hmm, tomorrow then, we shall gently doze off while reading a novel on my balcony (damnit, i thought we said 'whenever we want' so just stop planning will you).
so anyway. today, i skyped an old friend. you know, what they say about technology bringing people closer, across oceans, continents and timezones — its all quite bullshit. the grainy and laggy footage, which forces you to bring your face unbearably close to the screen to take a closer look, only serves to remind you that that's the closest you'll ever get. regardless of how you both are purportedly having a face-to-face real-time conversation, you're still oceans, continents and timezones apart.
so maybe we'll make do without the video next time, voice calls will do — after all, that's how it used to be. hours of conversation that never had any discernible direction except perhaps to keep me (i daren't say with confidence 'each other') company and to provide some distraction/entertainment/comfort of sorts.
