legally bound

The past week has been law rag law rag .
The next week will law rag law rag law rag.
And the week after next, law rag law rag law rag and more law rag HA.

Apart from the fact that I have to travel to nus which is effing far away (156 all the way, my god) everyday and that I can now only meet people for supper (kohweengee!) because we're spending our entire day in the moot courts jumping around trying to dance,

Rag is getting pretty fun - nuaing around after extended lunch breaks (during which we satisfy subway cookie cravings), foodie excursions to clementi, coughgossipcough sessions at starbucks, cs sessions for the boys, failed movie outings, story-telling on long bus/mrt rides homes and the like ( :

I guess its nice getting to know people who are similar in character to you ( : And its nice too, to know that you won't be lonely when school starts. But alas, imagine 20 people trying to talk all at the same time, ha.

But still ! There are things that need to be done (ihavethingstoSHOPfor) and people that need to be met !

midnight sale

As I tirelessly navigate through 1347435 Japanese websites in search for nice birks to buy, I realise that this IS retail therapy - channelling attention and time to shopping, away from the thoughts that spoiled your evening.

On a completely bimbotic note, Japan has the widest variety of birks ever! And all I want to do now is to plonk wads of cash down and start a collection of limited edition collaborative birks. Disney&tatami, keithharring&papillio! DAMNIT, pass me the money!

Oh well. I think the poorer I am, the more I am inclined to spend. It's usually a case of "since I'm so poor already I might as well spend because I can't get much poorer anyway", haha. But on second thought, when I'm feeling a tad richer I do spend a lot too because the reverse works as well - the "since I'm feeling quite rich it doesn't matter if I spend a teeny bit right" mentality.

So I guess the only conclusion we can draw up about Ruizi is that to her, instant gratification in terms of acquisition of material possessions, despite its superficiality and impermanence, is usually chosen over the promised sense of security in the long term, despite the fact that she would very much want to have both.

Classic case of heart over mind. And of greed, of course.

two sleepy people

In the past two weeks, so many conversations, thoughts and experiences have overwhelmed me. Yet, the memories of them haven't been captured because I have no inclination to think things through, and to admit in writing the conclusions that I may very possibly draw up.

There are so many things to say; so many things I want to proclaim to the world. But what for, this is a world where thought is free.

"it's EEHHSEEAHH, not Asia!"

Yes we've been to Bangkok and back :D

Highlights -

Conversation in hotel room
background info // we were going through a dunkin donuts frenzy after eating 237209 of those heavenly donuts. Double Chocolate, Strawberry jam, Chocolate Butternut, yada yada, you name it they have it.

Rui : ehh where's our "do not disturb" sign?
Nette : huh what "DONUT disturb" sign?!
Rui : Haha what the hell, I said do not disturb! *turns to Al* I said do not disturb right?
Al : erm, I heard "DONUT DISPLAY"
//followed by incessant laughing that had us clutching our sides :D For momento's sake, I koped the sign, haha.

Episode of the Cheapo Tourist
We didnt get conned by any taxi driver! Which is a mighty achievement in a country where taxi drivers are almost relentless in trying to suck the money out of tourists. But not us three young girls, ha. Of course we would rather wait in the rain than pay 2 times the supposed metered fare! No wonder they were so unfriendly towards us (unlike the taxis driver we saw at another hotel whom we saw charging 3x the rate to a caucasian couple; no wonder he was smiling in an almost overenthusiastic manner). But ah-ha, money saved is money to be spent elsewhere (:

AnyOtherBusiness
  • Al is damn good with puns, with and (more hilariously) without ill intent! But ha, wicked all the same!
  • In the Land of Repetition, we were such People of Repetition, it was mighty embarrassing.
  • We still cant pronounce the name of our train station, Ratchathewi, in the right sing-song accent, despite having taken 3740937 trips.
  • There is a conspiracy going on in Thailand - a plan to ensure that all Thais have cute perky butts (men in tight uniforms omg). The sheer number of flights of stairs we had to climb, tsk!

    * * *
A good weekend, to say the very least ( : Just that next time, yes, we're going to a resort. Away from the hustle and bustle, where we'll finally get our facial and massages and some rest. And well, photos will be up erm, soon.

  • RUI.
