"la mer" is a song, and an expensive crème

on sunday, in my attempt to make public law reading seem less daunting, i hopped down to coffee bean at gardens and pretended that it was a leisurely sunday. i bought my ultimate iceblended (with crushed expresso beans! when we broke up i think that was the drink in front of him at taka coffee bean okay another story for another day), opened up my book (nevermind that the extremely small font might just cause me to develop myopia) and started to read.

but. of course i got distracted (can you tell, with my abundant use of brackets).

one.
there was this guy at the next table. no, he wasn't particularly cute or what-not (no, not buff). but he was reading homer. the Iliad, of all books! so blardy atas. the ugly maroon-brown constitutional law in singapore and malaysia just doesn't cut it. dear supreme being, drop some geek chic boys down from the sky for me please.

two.
i started obsessing and making spider-web like mindmaps, long lists of possible situations in my head, and then it got too complicated to handle, with all the qualifiers and too frequent occurence of "but then hor"... i said, shush! to myself. and then something hit me. you know, despite the fact that the exact same thing (in essence anyway) can happen, things are different. things are different because we're 20/21 and not 17/18 anymore. and what's the thing about being twenty-one (almost anyway) and not eighteen? you're much less obsessed, certainly less hung up, and saying "fuck off" to people comes a lot easier (at least in your head). so rare, a revelation that doesn't give me the sinking 'siao liao' feeling in your stomach.

i think this new year resolution thing is off to a good start, mister/miss hyphen.
